Xiaomi first introduced the latest MIUI 12 custom skin in China and then globally upgraded version of MIUI 11. The company has already given information about the smartphones that will get this update in the first phase. According to the timeline, the MIUI 12 stable update will roll out for the Mi 9, Mi 9T, Mi 9T Pro and Redmi K20 series.

After this, the company will soon announce smartphones for the second phase, which will be given MIUI 12 stable beta update. These will include smartphones such as Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7 Pro, Redmi Note 8 Pro with Redmi Note 7S, Redmi Note 9, Poco F1, Poco F2 Pro, and Poco X2. According to the official Mi blog post, the company has focused on privacy protection in the MIUI 12 development.
In the new version, users can see what permissions an app is using in real time. The app version section of the new version has the option of “while using the application” and “notify”. Xiaomi has added a new control center to MIUI 12. The company has also informed that location information and metadata can be removed while sharing photos with users. Users can see the permission in the top left corner through the access indicator when an app uses a permission.
